Welcome to T&N's Podcast for Kids. This is TJ and Norah. Today we have a story for you. This is called the Tale of Vince the Unusual Vampire. This story is narrated by my mom. Tj me plays the voice of Camp Morty, norm plays the voice of Vince the Vampire and my dad plays the voice of Uncle Boris.
Speaker 2Once upon a time, in the shadowy, cobwebbed corners of a castle perched atop Craigie Hill lived Vince the Vampire. Vince was no ordinary vampire. While others in his family feasted on blood and terrified the villagers, vince had a peculiar secret he was a vegetarian. Vince had a peculiar secret he was a vegetarian. That's right. Vince wouldn't dare sink his fangs into anything that didn't come from the garden.
Speaker 2This unusual preference started when Vince, as a young batling, accidentally bit into a particularly juicy tomato while practicing his little vamp skills. To his surprise, it was delicious, he didn't feel queasy or guilty and, best of all, he didn't have to run away from angry villagers waving garlic and wooden stakes. From that day forward, vince vowed never to harm a living creature and to stick to a strictly veggie diet. Life in the vampire world wasn't easy for a vegetarian. Vince's parents, count Morty and Countess Drusilla, were embarrassed by their son's ghastly habit, as they called it. They tried everything to cure him of his green obsession, from inviting him to grand vampire feasts to sneaking blood sausages into his tomato soup. But no matter how hard they tried, vince remained committed to his vegetarian ways.
Vince Befriends Turnip Hollow Villagers
Speaker 1Vince. What will the other vampires think?
Speaker 2bellowed Count Morty one evening, his cape swirling dramatically.
Speaker 1This is off par for our family name. They'll think I have excellent taste in kale.
Speaker 2Vince quipped, popping a carrot stick into his mouth. His parents groaned and decided to call in reinforcements. They summoned Uncle Boris, the scariest vampire in the family, to set Vince straight. The scariest vampire in the family. To set Vince straight. Uncle Boris arrived with his usual flair of thunderclaps and ominous fog only to find Vince in the kitchen blending a spinach and beet smoothie.
Speaker 1Is that a beet? This is worse than I thought.
Speaker 2Yes, Uncle Boris, beets are delicious, Vince said with a sly smile Want a sip.
Speaker 1I'd rather chew a wooden stake than drink that crimson abomination. You young vampire are a disgrace.
Speaker 2Vince shrugged See yourself, but you don't know what you're missing. Despite his family's disapproval, vince found solace outside the castle. The nearby village of Turnip Hollow was bustling with life and vegetables. At first the villagers had been terrified of the young vampire. They assumed the red liquid he drank daily from his batwing mug was blood. One day, though, a cheeky young village child ran up to Vince and asked if he could have a sip of his drink. The child's older sister stared wide-eyed in horror and quickly took the child's hand, reprimanding him. She muttered something about how they don't drink blood like vampires do. Vince started to laugh a chuckle at first that quickly turned into a belly laugh. This surprised the children. Once Vince composed himself enough, he said Blood.
Speaker 1Good coffin to know this is cranberry juice. The little boy grinned. Can I really try it then?
Speaker 2Vince handed him the mug.
Speaker 1Sure kid One sip won't turn you into a vampire, I promise.
Speaker 2So once the villagers learned he preferred veggies and fruits over their necks, they warmed up to him. Vince soon became a regular at the village market, where he was known as the odd fellow in the cape. He had a knack for picking the freshest cucumbers and the crispest lettuce. In return, he often helped the villagers with their gardens, using his bat-like agility to prune the tallest vines and retrieve runaway pumpkins. The children of Turnip Hollow adored Vince. They called him Veggie Vince and loved hearing his stories about the spooky castle and his kooky vampire relatives. Vince often organized dungeon veggie feasts where he'd teach the kids to make frighteningly good treats like carrot fangs and monster-faced pizzas with spinach eyes.
The Fake Garlic Garden Plan
Speaker 2One day a disaster struck Turnip Hollow. The villagers woke up to find their garlic crops, which they grew in abundance to protect themselves from Vince's family, completely withered Without garlic. They feared Vince's relatives might pay them an unwanted visit. The villagers turned to Vince for help. There she wins. You've got to do something, pleaded Mrs Parsnip, the town baker. If your Uncle Boris gets here and sees that out of garlic we'd all be doomed. Oh no, vince replied, rubbing his pointed chin thoughtfully.
Speaker 1Uncle Boris does love a dramatic entrance. But don't worry, mrs Parsnip, I have a plan.
Speaker 2Vince sprang into action. He gathered the villagers at the town square and announced his idea town square and announced his idea. We're going to create the most convincing fake garlic garden the world has ever seen. The villagers gasped.
Speaker 1Fake garlic.
Speaker 2Asked Mr Turnip, the local grocer, trust me, vince said with a grin We'll use papier-mâché paint and a little garlic-scented perfume.
Speaker 1Uncle Boris won't suspect a thing.
Speaker 2With Vince leading the way, the villagers worked tirelessly. When Uncle Boris inevitably showed up for an inspection, Vince led him straight to the fake garden. Boris sniffed the air and squinted at the garlic, but didn't suspect a thing.
Speaker 1Hmm, I suppose these villagers understand the importance of tradition.
Vince's Vegetarian Legacy
Speaker 2As soon as Boris left, the villagers erupted into cheers. Vince had saved the day Miraculously. Over time, vince's family began to see the benefits of his vegetarian lifestyle. He showed them how to make blood-colored beet soup and introduce them to the joys of roasted pumpkin seeds. Even Uncle Boris grudgingly admitted that Vince's garlic squash stew was not entirely horrible.
Speaker 1What's in this thing? Again, Just squash a little paprika, and what?
Speaker 2Wash a little paprika and look, vince said, smiling ear to ear, his pointed teeth on full display. Boris scowled but said in between bites Well, it's edible, I suppose. Eventually, vince became known as a pioneer in the vampire world. Vampires from far and wide came to Draxylvania to learn about his plant-based ways. Vince's castle transformed into a hub for vegetarian vampire cuisine, featuring dishes like fang-shaped zucchini fries and bat-winged kale chips. Many of his relatives, and, most importantly, his parents and Uncle Boris, became committed vegetarians like Vince, which allowed them to create and foster relationships with the villagers just as Vince had. In the end, vince proved that you don't need to follow the crowd or the family fangs to be true to yourself. He became a hero, not just to the villagers of Turnip Hollow, but to vampires everywhere, who were tired of the same old villager entrees. And so Vince, the vegetarian vampire, lived happily ever after munching on his carrot sticks and turning one spooky tradition at a time into something starchier the end.
